Special Cases – domestic violence

About domestic violence

In cases of domestic violence, Immigration New Zealand may grant a special visa to allow continued stay in the country. Immigration New Zealand considers special cases for people who are victims of domestic violence in New Zealand who are unable to return to their home country.

The applicant must have intended to seek residence in New Zealand on the basis of marriage or relationship with the New Zealand citizen or resident and this marriage or relationship has ended due to the domestic violence by the New Zealand citizen or resident.
