Accreditation Employer NZ Assistance In New Zealand - Become an Accredited Employer NZ

Employer accreditation is a crucial step for New Zealand businesses who wish to hire overseas workers. Before you seek help from skilled migrants, you must first become an accredited employer so that you are authorised to extend job offers to foreign workers with the Accredited Employer Work Visa.

Accreditation facilitates the hiring process for overseas workers and positions your business as a reputable employer that complies with all of NZ’s immigration and employment standards.

The accreditation process is extremely important if you wish to hire migrant workers. However, it can be confusing and intricate. This is why we at Auckland South Immigration Consultants have committed ourselves to helping people like you navigate New Zealand’s visa regulations.

Why Is Accreditation Important? – The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) For Migrant Workers

Accreditation is important because it allows you to expand your workforce with qualified, skilled overseas workers through the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) in New Zealand. The AEWV is NZ’s primary temporary work visa and is designed to ensure that resident New Zealanders are prioritised for jobs. If no locals can fill a job role, then accredited employers can seek help from migrant workers who can effectively manage the responsibilities of the position in question. Suitable migrant workers with skills on NZ’s Green List can apply for the role so that employers can continue fulfilling their services with a suitable employee team. This system is designed to allow accredited employers to supplement their own New Zealand workforce, even if resident workers are not available.

Accreditation is necessary to ensure that only qualified employers are extending job offers to potential migrant workers, reducing the chances of migrant worker exploitation and ensuring they have good, stable opportunities for work in NZ. Once accredited, NZ businesses can offer migrant workers a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.

How To Become an Accredited Employer In New Zealand

Are you interested in hiring skilled migrant workers? Becoming an accredited employer involves several key steps. Employers can get accreditation through the following process:

  • Determine The Type of Accreditation Needed. There are various kinds of accreditation available. Therefore, you will need to determine which is right for your business needs.
    • Standard Accreditation. For businesses supporting up to five AEWV holders at any given time.
    • High-Volume Accreditation. For businesses supporting six or more AEWV visa holders at once.
    • Franchise Accreditation. For franchise businesses seeking to support more than five AEWV holders.
    • Triangular Accreditation (Controlling Third Party). For labour-hire companies, a more comprehensive documentation process is needed.
  • Prepare The Required Documentation. INZ requires that a New Zealand employer who has had an application for accreditation also provide documentation proving that your business complies with New Zealand employment laws and standards. Ensure that your company is up to date with tax obligations and health and safety standards and that you are paying your employees fairly.
  • Submit The Accreditation Application. Once you are ready, you can submit your accreditation application through the Immigration New Zealand website. Be sure to provide accurate information about your business, including its structure, financial health, and employment practices.
  • Pay The Application Fees. The fee you pay will depend on the type of accreditation you are applying for.
  • Wait For Processing. Once you have applied, you just need to wait for INZ to assess your application. The number of days this takes may vary depending on the current number of applications being processed. If you are approved, you can begin the process of hiring migrant workers with the AEWV programme.

How Much Does It Cost to Become an Accredited Employer? – What Employers Should Know

The cost of becoming an accredited NZ employer will depend on the type of accreditation you need.

  • Standard Accreditation. NZD $740 for businesses that wish to support up to five migrant workers. If this limited amount becomes insufficient and you need an additional AEWV holder or more migrant workers, you can upgrade to High-Volume Accreditation for a fee of NZD $480.
  • High-Volume Accreditation. NZD $1220 for businesses that need to support six or more migrant workers simultaneously.
  • Franchise Accreditation. NZD $1980 for franchise businesses seeking franchisee accreditation.
  • Triangular Accreditation (Controlling Third Party). NZD $3870 for labour-hire companies; this requires a more extensive accreditation process.

Additionally, it costs NZD $610 for a job check. A job check will ensure that the position you are offering has been advertised locally and that no suitable New Zealanders are available for the work, opening the position up for skilled migrants. If your job check is declined, then you can request reconsideration for a fee of NZD $240.
